MEETING TOPIC: Cybersecurity: Protecting Your Business from Today's Threats

Attendees will gain valuable insight into the cybersecurity threats that can disrupt business operations, including phishing, ransomware, social engineering, and business email compromise. The discussion will highlight the importance of a proactive, layered defense strategy—such as multi-factor authentication (MFA), endpoint detection and response (EDR), regular patching, email security, and reliable backups—to protect data, ensure compliance, and keep organizations running smoothly.


About Our Speakers:

Ed Cordiano, President/Owner, CMIT Solutions of Cleveland Downtown & East

Ed Cordiano is the President/Owner of CMIT Solutions of Cleveland Downtown & East, dedicated to delivering enterprise-grade cybersecurity and technology support to the small and medium-sized business community. Ed empowers his clients to focus on growing their businesses while CMIT protects them from the ever-evolving cyber threat landscape. With over 250 offices, CMIT provides a national reach with a local presence. Ed holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University. He then spent several years with a global chemical company serving in various industries and roles. His experience also includes working for the U.S. division of a small European firm, where he discovered the transformative impact of technology on small businesses. Throughout his career, Ed has consistently delivered efficiency improvements through technical solutions, helping clients save time and reduce costs. Strengthening his business acumen and leadership capabilities, he earned his Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management in Chicago. Ed proudly serves on the Board of Directors for the Case Alumni Association.


Brendan Schmolz, President/Owner, CMIT Solutions of Cleveland SW & Akron 

Brendan Schmolz has been an IT professional for nearly two decades. Starting at a young age, he founded his first IT Services company in 2010, with the vision of helping small and mediumsized businesses navigate technical challenges and enhance security to keep them safe. And in 2023, he transformed his company into CMIT Solutions of Cleveland SW and Akron, a franchise system with over 250 locations nationwide and over 1000 technicians. Brendan believes that the term MSP or Managed Services Provider should be defined as "We Manage the Systems that keep your company Productive" enabling businesses to focus on growth rather than dealing with IT issues. No matter what business he works with, he considers himself as part of your team and an extension to your company as a dedicated business IT advisor. His dedication to leveraging technology for business success remains unwavering.
