Tuesday, August 19, 2025 (11:30 AM - 1:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

MEETING TOPICStaying Ahead of the Claim - Proactive Policies, Procedures and Strategies for Managing Workers’ Compensation Claims

Despite a business’s best efforts, work-place accidents happen. While you might not be able to prevent all accidents and injuries, being well-prepared for what follows can reduce or even eliminate the negative impact accidents have on your employees and your business.

Join Attorney Shannon Kreuer of Critchfield, Critchfield and Johnston for a presentation on preparing for, investigating, and defending workers’ compensation claims and related actions. You’ll learn:

  • What policies and procedures you should have in place before an accident happens
  • How to investigate a workplace accident
  • What (and when) to report a work-place incident to BWC
  • When, what and how to fight in a BWC claim
  • What to do if a VSSR is filed against your business
  • What to do if an intentional tort claim is filed against your business

Speaker Bio: Shannon E. Kreuer is an associate attorney with Critchfield, Critchfield & Johnston’s Litigation and Employment & Labor groups. Her practice is primarily focused on representing and advising employers in workers’ compensation and employment law matters. Drawing on over fifteen years of litigation experience across diverse legal areas, Shannon offers clients strategic counsel and skilled representation in a wide range of disputes.

Shannon began her legal career in New York City, where she litigated cases throughout New York State. Her broad litigation background enables her to effectively guide clients through both routine and complex legal challenges.

Outside of the office, Shannon enjoys spending time with her family, including her son, Colin, and her two nephews, Mason and Nash. She is looking forward to teaching her son to play soccer and maybe even coaching a season or two! She enjoys reading, going for a swim, and is always up for a game of, well, anything!
